The Knowledge Barter Experiment by Dara Gill

daragill.com

2010

In this the first development, The Knowledge Barter Experiment involves co-ordinating one-on-one exchanges of knowledge between two people whom may have never met before. Each participant is required to outline what they can teach (e.g. how to knit, how to fix a leaky tap etc) and what they would like to learn. These responses are collated and matching pairs of individuals are organised to exchange their knowledge between themselves.

The project aims to bring together participants from vast backgrounds, experiences and categories of knowledge and allow for a free exchange of knowledge between these 'Amateur Experts'.

The project is split into two sections, a small scale experiment involving 10 pairs of people to be completed in partnership with Performance Space as part of the ClubHouse program at CarriageWorks, Sydney in 2010.

This tumblr serves as documentation of the project first stage with the addition of videos, images and text for the duration of the project.
